About My Clients
My ideal clients are first and second-generation immigrants, American-born children of immigrants, and BIPOC individuals navigating the intersection of two worlds. You might be the eldest daughter carrying family expectations, managing anxiety or depression while code-switching between cultures, or struggling with relationships that don't fit traditional molds. You're ready to explore your bi-cultural identity without having to explain or defend your experience.
My Background and Approach
As a Texas LPC-Supervisor and Florida LMHC with a Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from UT Tyler, I've dedicated my career to creating culturally competent therapy that meets BIPOC clients where they are. I founded Intentional Therapy PLLC because I witnessed too many clients of color leaving sessions more confused than when they arrived—receiving advice like "just set boundaries" without acknowledgment of intergenerational dynamics, family loyalty, or cultural responsibilities. I specialize in bi-cultural identity development, intergenerational trauma, family conflict, and the unique challenges facing South Asian and East Asian communities. My training in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Trauma-Focused CBT allows me to blend evidence-based approaches with deep cultural humility. I also speak Gujarati and understand firsthand the experience of navigating two cultures.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe healing happens when therapy honors history and culture—not despite them. I'm passionate about dismantling mental health stigma in BIPOC communities and ensuring accessible, realistic wellness for those who have been underserved for far too long. As the founder of Intentional Therapy PLLC, I've built a practice rooted in cultural competence, not just cultural awareness. I understand that for many immigrants and children of immigrants, family isn't just important—it's everything. I know that arranged marriage conversations are real, that being the first-born daughter carries weight you can't articulate to outsiders, and that code-switching is survival. I'm deeply committed to social justice, immigrant rights, and creating spaces where BIPOC individuals feel truly seen and heard. My work extends beyond the therapy room through clinical supervision, speaking engagements, and training other clinicians in culturally responsive care.
