About My Clients

My clients are typically couples that are ready for change! I am a therapist who always looks to challenge my clients, as I believe this is the path to growth and change. In my experience, the most transformative experiences happen when we step out of our comfort zone. My goal is push my clients to find the results that they are seeking, while providing support. I also believe in balance and ensuring that each clients feel respected, welcomed and heard throughout the process.

My Background and Approach

I attended Pacific Lutheran University (PLU) where I obtained my Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy. During my time at PLU, I trained in working with couples, while also interning in clinical settings where I focused on working with children, teens and young adults. After graduating, I began my career continuing my focus on teens and young adults with substance use/abuse along with mental health challenges. Eventually, I transitioned back to my foundation in working with adult individuals and couples, helping them navigate personal and relational obstacles such as anxiety, infidelity, depression, self-esteem and trauma. I have provided treatment for children, adolescents, adults, and families from diverse cultures and varying socioeconomic backgrounds. My therapeutic training/approach: Solution-Focused | Narrative | Relational-Experiential | Emotionally Focused | Multicultural | Family Systems | Family/Martial Therapy | Culturally Sensitive

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I was born in Thailand to refugee Cambodian (Khmer Krom) parents, I was raised in Tacoma, Washington. Growing up in Tacoma gave me an understanding of different challenges/barriers that people endure, and encouraged me to seek more understanding, compassion and empathy towards the people around me. I decided to become a therapist because I noticed that many people have difficulties expressing their feelings, thoughts and experiences in a constructive manner. I feel like this is especially common in immigrant communities with histories of trauma, as I experienced first-hand. This concept of intergenerational trauma became a focal point in my educational research, and continues to be a topic I have a deep interest in. One of my biggest hopes in my work as a therapist is to not only affect my clients in a positive way, but to help them establish healthy patterns for future generations.
