About My Clients
We are all complex and the problems that we face tend to be even more so. Yet the core factors that drive almost all of who we are tend to be quite simple. How do I cope with and reduce the hurt I feel? How do I create and enjoy peace and happiness in my life? Where am I going with my life and why? How do I do all this with friends, family and loved ones in our very chaotic modern world? We will explore these questions together and find ways to move forward.
My Background and Approach
As a mental health counselor I specialize in families and couples who are facing extremely complex situations and problems. I'm gifted in finding root causes to complex issues, and helping people navigate and overcome complex issues and problems quickly. I bring my work as a college professor into the counseling office as well, providing resources and engaging activities to help people work through the complex psychological questions that face many of us everyday: How do I get motivated and stay motivated? Is happiness genetic? What role does spiritually play in my mental wellbeing? Why do I have a love/hate relationship with food, sex, people, work and family? How do I know when I need to get on medicine? I don't just bring a Masters degree and license to my counseling work, I bring over a 1000 contact hours of classroom teaching and years of rigorous academic scholarship, research and study of trending psychological practices that help people feel and live better, fast.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I live most of my life by four beliefs: 1. It doesn't profit a person to try and have it all, and lose their emotional, physical and psychological wellbeing in the process. 2. A person without a purpose or hope is like an iPhone on bad WiFi - you can't really connect. 3. The answers to life are found in running towards our fears not away. 4. There is a higher power who cares about you and wants to be involved in your life.
