About My Clients
Life can feel overwhelming, lonely, or stuck sometimes—but you don't have to figure it out alone. Whether you're navigating anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, relationship struggles, identity questions, or the unique challenges of being a man in today's world, therapy can help. I bring a genuine, down-to-earth approach shaped by years leading wilderness expeditions, blending evidence-based therapy with honesty, connection, and a little humor along the way.
My Background and Approach
I believe the relationship between therapist and client is the foundation of meaningful change. Therapy works best when you feel genuinely seen, understood, and supported—not judged or analyzed from a distance. I show up as a real person in session: honest, direct, and occasionally funny when it helps. I'm not a blank slate, and while I respect that you're the expert on your own life, I'll share my perspective when it's helpful and challenge you when I think it will support your growth. My approach is collaborative, strength-based, and tailored to the person in front of me. Rather than focusing only on what's wrong, I'm interested in understanding what's gotten in the way and identifying the strengths you already possess. Whether we're exploring emotions, challenging unhelpful patterns, building skills, or navigating life's challenges, the goal is the same: helping you feel more connected to yourself, your values, and the life you want to live.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe people are far more capable than they often give themselves credit for. Life can leave us feeling disconnected from ourselves, our strengths, and the people who matter most, but I believe growth is always possible when we have the right support and space to reflect. I don't see people as problems to be fixed. Instead, I see individuals doing their best with the tools, experiences, and circumstances they've been given. I believe meaningful change happens through honest relationships, self-awareness, and a willingness to take small but intentional steps forward. My role is not to tell you who to be or how to live your life. My role is to help you better understand yourself, recognize your strengths, and move toward the life you want to build. I value authenticity, curiosity, humor, and personal accountability, and I strive to create a space where you can show up exactly as you are while discovering what you're capable of becoming.
