About My Clients

I work with individuals dealing with trauma, anxiety, depression, isolation, dissociation, loss of religion/culture, loss of a relationship, yearning for meaning and purpose, and feelings of being stuck or unfulfilled. I work best with young adults, folks dealing with trauma and searching for meaning.

My Background and Approach

I start from a relational, client-centered orientation. I know that the most effective tools and areas of focus on your healing journey are going to come from you even if they are presently inaccessible to you. My approach integrates meaning-centered therapy, mindfulness, and trauma processing. I have received training in Existential Therapy, Mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), and Behavioral Analysis.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

As a first-generation immigrant from Egypt I understand the intricacies of being a minority and attempting to "fit in" with a greater community that is not designed for you. As an ex-muslim, I know what it is like to lose community and cultural support systems. In my academic career, I immersed myself in the study of institutions of power and their effects on our lives. I recognize the impact power dynamics, culture, politics, environment, economics, race, sex, gender and many other categorizations and identities have in affecting our mental health and overall life outcomes. We are relational beings and our experience of the world is inextricably linked to our relationship with the communities and environments we relate with. For meaningful process, integration and growth to occur we need to make space for practice in and out of the therapeutic space. In that way, we are not just intellectualizing suffering but committing to engaging with the whole body and mind.

  • Atheism
