About My Clients
My clients have often endured life traumas and losses - of health, persons, valuables, and often pieces of themselves. I walk with them as they witness and process these life changes, help them validate and value memories and experiences, and assist them in developing the skills and support and resiliency to move forward. I offer my clients value, space to heal, and a willing heart and hope to walk with through the ups and downs of life healing.
My Background and Approach
I have personally walked through a myriad of life traumas, grief, and perinatal losses. I well understand the support, validation, and recovery needs of individuals in these life paths. Additionally, I have worked in a myriad of healthcare, community, school and nonprofit settings, and pride my experience in connecting and supporting those in all walks of life. I have specialized in working with individuals through chronic illnesses and injuries, and other life traumas, and have an expansive understanding of community resources and supports in healing. I tend to utilize person centered approaches, including CBT and DBT, and trauma therapy in healing. To assist my clients in expressing feelings and building safety in the office space and in life, I often include mindfulness exercises and expressive arts work as well. It is about YOU as the client, and what YOU need most to find your voice and resilience.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I have a strong Christian faith, which has long propelled my hope and commitment to helping others. I believe that each individual has the capacity to heal, to find hope, and to grow forward from difficult life circumstances. Sometimes it is a long way to go and to grow, but I like to support the internal resilience and power to go a long way. In addition to my passion for supporting healing through counseling, I also enjoy volunteering with youth and families in my church community, serving meals at local food kitchens, and sharing my love of helping build hope in others with my children. I enjoy and appreciate nature, and being outdoors running and hiking to ground my heart and soul in more difficult times. There is so much around us that can help!
