About My Clients

The climate crisis is having an impact on human mental health and emotional wellbeing. You might be addressing it head-on in your work or activism, or maybe you're feeling the personal effects of it. Perhaps you're stressed about how to relate to family members about climate change, or feeling worried about how your life is being, or will be, affected. There are all kinds of ways we're emotionally affected by climate change. Climate-aware therapy can help.

My Background and Approach

Whatever you're feeling, climate-conscious therapy provides space to talk about it in a way that's nonjudgmental, that doesn't overpathologize, and that helps you get unstuck if you're feeling overwhelmed. I'll provide an empathic, compassionate space for your eco-distress to be heard and deeply understood, as well as support and guidance to process and manage what can be difficult and powerful emotions. Talking with someone trained in working in this challenging area can also help you feel supported to move forward meaningfully and with purpose. Climate-related concerns don't always exist in a vacuum--they're often just part of what you're dealing with in life. You may choose to have them be the sole focus of therapy, or you might want therapy for other things too. Either way, I bring my climate-conscious lens to both situations when needed.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I'm a culturally sensitive therapist who values and respects people of all abilities, races, ethnicities, religions, sexual orientations, and gender identities. My passions for psychology and for the environment have come together in committing part of my private practice to climate- and ecotherapy work. Although traditionally psychologists don't always visibly bring certain values of their own into therapy, I believe that there is a moral and ethical imperative to doing so when it comes to the climate crisis. In addition to providing climate-related therapy, I volunteer several hours per week with the Climate Psychology Alliance of North America, a nonprofit with a focus on the intersectional aspects of climate change. I feel it's essential for me as a clinical psychologist to use my professional experience to intervene in whatever way I can to address the climate crisis, and I consider climate-conscious therapy to be a critical need.
