About My Clients
My clients often feel stuck, like they have tried everything with little relief or they have no idea what to try. I work with children, adolescents and young adults just trying to navigate the complexities of life (and let's face it...with little guidance). Life isn't easy and when you add anxiety or depression on top, well you know, it's really hard. There is a way through it though, and that's what I am here for. My clients are ready to learn something new and change their lives. You ready?
My Background and Approach
I just graduated with my doctorate in clinical psychology and am eager to work with the populations I love. I am trained in a variety of approaches, but I find the most important element in therapy is my relationship with my clients. I will take the time to get to know you and what is bringing you to therapy. Together, we will identify specific goals (often behavioral) and I'll be there to provide support and accountability along the way. Sometimes people need a safe space to just share what's on their minds/happening in theirs lives and that's what I try to offer. I want my clients to have space to say whatever they need and get an empathetic, supportive response on the other end. That being said, I also know sometimes people need a little guidance and a push to start making some real changes in their lives. You are going to get that from me as well. I provide concrete tools and suggestions that you then practice and determine if they are right for you!
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am an advocate for social change and work for a practice that is always challenging staff to consider the individual experiences of every single client and family member that comes to us. Now, sure I could certainly be doing more (and plan to grow). I do know that I have an incredible opportunity each time a client or family comes to my therapy room (or virtual room) to show support and advocacy for various communities (LGBTQ, racial/ethnic groups, religious groups, etc). I know that my words and actions in and out of the therapy room are powerful and spread a certain message.I am thoughtful in every move I make and the words I use in therapy. I believe we all are constantly growing and we can choose to grow in hate or choose to grow in love, acceptance and prosperity. I choose the latter and invite my clients to do the same.
