About My Clients

You are an adult at a crossroads in your life and are looking for more intensive therapy than is available seeing a therapist once a week or less. You may be cis, transgender, gender non-conforming, queer, LGB, neurodiverse and have felt misunderstood or unseen much of your life. You may have experienced physical, emotional, relational, racial trauma, and other forms of oppression. You are looking for a model that you can use yourself long after the program is complete.

My Background and Approach

I chose to become a clinical social worker because of the values of the profession, the emphasis on deep exploration of the human experience, and the emphasis on the person in their environment. In other words, I see you as an individual who has developed in the context of your family of origin, social, cultural, biological, and environmental factors. Traditional medical model diagnoses are focused on observed behavior of an individual at a particular moment in time, and can devalue your perspective and experience. Therefore, my approach is to empower you to know yourself and support you in tailoring the processes for untangling, reorganizing and living fulfilling lives that bring you peace. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate – Independent Clinical in the State of Washington. I graduated with a Master of Social Work from the Smith College School of Social Work in Northampton, MA, and Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from The George Washington University in Washington, DC.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe that real change happens in community with others through a process of self-exploration and playing with different ways of interacting with the world. I am a neurodiverse (ADHD and Asperger's Syndrome) and queer, as well as having lived experience of complex trauma and recovery. To me, effective therapy means that you are able to express yourself authentically, are seen in all your complexity, and are supported as you figure out how you want to move forward. I do not believe intensive therapy needs to involve marinating in trauma, rather it is process of accepting yourself despite the systems that tell you otherwise and nourishing yourself even more because of it.
