About My Clients
The difference between individual counseling and couples therapy is profound. It is imperative that your counselor be aware of these differences and have specialized training in couples therapy. Even with specialized training, it is important to find the therapist that’s right for you or your relationship. It is our mission to find you the right therapist. If it’s not with us, we are well connected and happy to provide referrals in the community.
My Background and Approach
Our Approach to Couples Counseling: Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT) Our couples therapists are REQUIRED to have advanced training in couples therapy, specifically Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). EFT is arguably the most empirically founded model of couples therapy to date. Research demonstrates that 70% of couples who complete EFT recover from marital distress, and 90% have significant improvement. These improvements are shown to be long-term with little regression. This compares to a very low 35% recovery rate and high rates of relapse/regression for traditional behavioral therapies in couples therapy. What’s really cool is that studies also show that EFT can be effective in reducing symptoms of PTSD and depression when these issues occur alongside marital distress. There are three levels of training in EFT that you will notice listed on our therapist profiles to help you find the therapist with the experience you need.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Many times the problems we face do not exist in isolation. They often affect, and are affected by family, friends, partners, co-workers or maybe a struggle to find or maintain these relationships. The focus of therapy through Wolfe Counseling is both on how to find health, happiness and confidence in yourself and your relationships.
