About My Clients

I work with those who are emerging from grief and trauma. I often work with individuals who feel "stuck" and fear they are broken and yet have a deep desire to heal. My clients have expressed that they appreciate my warmth and authentic desire to learn and understand their world, balanced with direction and insight. Throughout the process I will teach you how to go deep without getting lost, trust your gut, and find the path to what you most need.

My Background and Approach

I earned my degree as a counselor at St. Edwards University here in Austin, Texas. My therapeutic career started as a grief therapist for Austin’s Center for Grief and Loss and over the past 5 years, I have grown a thriving private practice in south Austin. I value the variety of experiences and backgrounds that people bring with them and strive to provide a non-judgemental and supportive environment that encourages inquiry and restores resilience. My work is attachment based and trauma informed. It incorporates both a top down (cognitive) and a bottom up (body oriented) approach. Specific modalities I have trained in include NARM (NueroAffective Relational Model) EMDR, SE, Gottman, and IPNB (Interpersonal Nuerobiology).

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe we are each seeking to live fully and have agency, rather than live in the fear of the future or the remorse and pain of the past. To get unstuck from the strategies that hold us hostage, we must learn to work with and unite the parts of ourselves – the "feeling self" (emotional and physical experience) and the "thinking self" (beliefs and narration of our experience). I have a passion for working with adults of adoption and foster care alumni. It has lead me to not only studying grief and trauma, but also how our early experiences influence our relationships to ourselves and others. I am fortunate to have a rich background to draw from. I've worked for the arts, non-profits, and corporate America, before becoming a therapist. These experiences help me draw out and support the diverse strengths and resources each client brings with them. I still nurture and invest in my creativity through photography and acting.
