About My Clients
Couples that want to work with me are stuck in patterns of reactivity, in crisis, disconnected and lacking intimacy, struggling with past betrayals/violations, and unable to align on core relationship expectations. As a parent who has experienced the challenges of raising little ones and launching college-bound teens, I also help parents and children struggling to connect. My individual clients want help with family of origin grief, attachment injuries, anxiety, perfectionism, life transitions.
My Background and Approach
I hold compassion and curiosity about the ways a person is struggling - I do not pathologize or judge. I understand and see all client distress through an attachment lens; there are deep, underlying attachment longings and fears driving painful and destructive patterns of behavior hurting relationships. I am interested in helping my couples and individual clients successfully experience their vulnerability being received and met with curiosity, empathy, great care. These are the corrective experiences that create secure attachment and heal how we relate to ourselves and to those we love. I have advanced training in Emotionally Focused Therapy and use it as a framework with my clients. It works to heal and change relationships at the attachment level. I integrate somatic interventions and IFS-informed parts work to organize complex, layered emotions, to help my clients create secure attachment and experience wholeness and healing.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I have experience working with clients from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds and am careful to acknowledge the role and impact that cultural differences, social location, neurodivergence, chronic illness, and other power differentials can have on the relational dynamic that couples co-create. These same factors also impact families and can make parent-child relationships more susceptible to ruptures. I feel strongly about helping couples and families create relationships that allow them feel to feel deeply known, loved, valued, and supported. Becoming a therapist is a second career after spending more than twenty years as a marketing professional and entrepreneur—a move spurred by my own transformative work in psychotherapy which restored a hope for change and wholeness that has never left me. I am a person of faith and believe my accumulated professional and personal lived experiences have been preparing me for this work, which I am passionate about.
