About My Clients

Since 2020 I have been working with clients experiencing symptoms of low self confidence, body dysmorphia, disordered eating, generalized anxiety, and depressive symptoms. Currently, I work with adult populations ranging in ages from 18 to around 60 years old and offer sessions Tuesdays through Fridays . Typically I try to get clients on weekly or every-other week schedules to ensure consistent accessibility to services, but I can be flexible to scheduling needs.

My Background and Approach

My hope for my clients is that they leave our sessions feeling supported and adequately resourced. I believe mental health is impacted by so much around us, so I utilize a "person-in-environment" approach where we will explore the many different aspects of your life to best understand their impact on your functioning and needs. This helps decrease the likelihood of having a "cookie cutter" therapy experience. I often assign (optional) homework and do my best to provide resources such as books, worksheets, peer reviewed studies and more in hopes you feel capable and motivated to practice what you're learning in-between sessions. I utilize techniques from a number of different modalities, but these are the most common: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, mindfulness/somatic Therapy, Trauma-informed Therapy, and Internal Family Systems. I also utilize a body neutrality and body positive framework.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe therapy and mental health care are inherently political. As a result of my personal and professional beliefs, I do not support of the current political administration. We are constantly impacted by the systems around us, and many of the systems within the United States are oppressive - I believe therapy is not as effective if these oppressive systems are not acknowledged. The work I do with clients is informed by their individual experiences and needs, I want to cultivate a therapeutic space that offers safety, compassion, and recognition of biases/privilege in hopes my clients feel supported and validated without fear of judgment or shame. My hope is to model compassionate and respectful communication with the goal of decreasing client's shame-oriented self talk. Through reducing shame and negative self talk, I aim to guide clients toward a more authentic and vulnerable way of interacting with themselves and the world around them.
