About My Clients

I work with adults who have begun to understand the many ways that worry, chronic stress, anxiety, & unprocessed traumas (even small t-type) can negatively impact their health, their relationships, their livelihood & future. My clients are seeking to engage in therapy that will help them get to the root of their issues & begin to reverse that negative impact by dismantling bad habits, increasing clarity & self-esteem, improving their relationships & capacity to give & receive love.

My Background and Approach

I'm committed to helping clients get clarity on what it is they truly need and what's currently standing in the way of realizing a life w/fewer burdens and greater freedom. I offer clients the use of highly effective methods & tools in the context of a caring, relational talk therapy, to help them progress more quickly & go further. My work assumes a mind-body orientation and is informed by attachment & psychodynamic theory, Buddhist psychology and current research in biological psychology, cognitive & affective neuroscience. Individual consultation sessions are available for individuals who may not be prepared to engage in the work of therapy at this time but seek a mental health professional's perspective and potential options as it pertains to their concerns and present situation.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I've worked for 30+ years as a social worker & counselor. I grew up with nine siblings on a farm in the midwest & lived in the Colorado mountains and S. California before settling in Washington. I have family & connections to the east coast and NYC. I've visited 14 countries & most states in the US. It's been the joy of my life to meet, listen to & learn from individuals of such diverse geographical regions, cultures, subcultures, micro cultures, families and tribes over the years. While all humans are quite capable of suffering deeply, regardless of their background, I learned long ago that those belonging to minority racial, ethnic & other self-identified groups are more vulnerable to certain health & mental health risks as a result of the human transgressions committed against them, their ancestors & their environment. Whatever your personal grief or struggle, you deserve to come home, to come whole to yourself. An informed and caring therapist can make a difference.
