About My Clients
Do you often feel overwhelmed, forgetful, & distracted? Getting through your day in an organized and timely manner feels like an insurmountable task. Others may have unfairly labeled you as "lazy.” ADHD affects every part of someone's life: health, career, and relationships. For BIPOC folx, additional challenges arise due to cultural insensitivity and limited access to accurate information. We'll work together to develop the skills necessary for you to live a more productive and organized life!
My Background and Approach
Dr. Janice Castro is a first-generation college student who earned her B.A. in Psychology from the University of Maryland, College Park. While at the University of Maryland, she was accepted into the McNair Scholars Program, where she developed her research skills and obtained access to resources to pursue her doctoral studies. She then embarked on her journey to Nebraska where she received an M.A. and P.h.D., in Counseling Psychology in the APA-accredited Counseling Psychology program at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She is currently a licensed psychologist in California.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Dr. Janice Elena Castro is a Maryland native and daughter of Peruvian immigrants. Growing up, she lived in poverty, watched her father be deported, and observed some of her peers become stagnant in obtaining higher education because of documentation status while she advanced as a first-generation college student. Her personal experiences have inspired her passion for providing culturally competent behavioral health services. She has developed expertise in ADHD, trauma-informed practice, Latine/x mental health, and fighting the stigma surrounding mental health. Her work is rooted in multiculturalism and serving as an agent of social change.
