About My Clients
Have you been feeling stuck between seeking connection and avoiding rejection? Do you have an overwhelmingly negative inner critic who makes it hard to feel loved and accepted? Maybe you crave external validation and say yes when you want to say no because confrontation feels terrifying. It must feel exhausting and incredibly isolating. Therapy can offer insight and tools for transforming this pattern. I look forward to helping you feel more grounded in your relationship with yourself and others
My Background and Approach
I have years of experience with providing individual therapy to adults and teens. I received my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from The New School for Social Research. Throughout my clinical training, I worked in a variety of diverse contexts, including hospitals, university counseling centers, and outpatient mental health clinics, where I treated a variety of concerns. As a therapist, my ultimate role is to help you process your emotions and see them as messengers who carry important information. I will also support you in tolerating difficult emotions and using your values to guide your decisions.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe we all have the ability to grow and shift unhelpful beliefs and patterns of behavior. I believe in the importance of challenging mental health stigma and working to provide access to the most marginalized members of society. As a white person, I regularly interrogate my unearned privilege and support social justice movements for racial equity. I identify as queer and transmasculine and am well-versed in sociopolitical issues that impact the LGBTQIA+ community. Although I lean left politically, I welcome conversations about difference. I have a strong connection to animals and share two dogs and four cats with my partner.
