About My Clients
I have worked with adults, children, and families that have sought to overcome trauma, grief, depression, personality disorders, severe mental illness (SMI), anxiety, ADHD, addiction, and relationship challenges.
My Background and Approach
I believe recovery is possible and needs a strength based approach that is tailored to the needs of the individual, couple, or family while utilizing cultural sensitivity to foster empowerment. I integrate trauma informed care, harm reduction, intersectional theory, cognitive behavioral therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Motivational interviewing, and other modalities into my approach while meeting people where they are to foster empowerment and resilience.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe in social justice, equity, and empowerment while seeking to respect the autonomy of clients to make choices that meet their needs. Social work values of compassion, cultural sensitivity, and a holistic approach to therapy are vital while seeking to help clients define values that match with their goals in life. I believe a therapist needs to partner with clients in a collaborative fashion while providing learning experiences that can foster empowerment and enable clients to make healthier choices that align with their true values for improved health outcomes. Additionally, therapists learn from clients about their experiences, knowledge, and values to discern ways to improve resiliency to meet life challenges.
