About My Clients
Let's be honest, a lot of us have had bad experiences with therapists before. Whether they made assumptions about you based on a diagnosis or you felt your identity and boundaries were not respected, it can feel hard to find an empathetic provider who is still willing to challenge you to be your best self. If you feel like you've been living in fight-or-flight mode, if you find yourself trying to navigate the complexities of identity, if you've almost given up on ever feeling better, I'm here.
My Background and Approach
I got into therapy because I've been on the other side of the couch before. I spent a lot of my life fighting OCD, depression, and suicidal ideation, and I've come out the other side better for having gone to therapy and done the work. My goal is to help guide you through those dark and difficult spots in your life, giving you tools to help you get by now while you build skills to keep yourself feeling good in the future. As we work together, we'll work on boundaries, self-respect, and how to live a life that reflects your personal values. We'll find tools to help you regulate your emotions and manage triggers so you can focus on living how you want to live. I have a lot of experience working with people with BPD and those suffering from suicidal ideation and self-harm, as I used to work in an inpatient facility. I believe that inpatient treatment is for those who need it, and my goal is to help you identify what care you need and pursue it, whatever that looks like for your journey.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I'm an active member of the LGBTQIA+ community, I'm demisexual, and you can often find me at pride events in June. I'm a nerd, and the character limit won't let me go off on my spiel of how I believe DnD can be highly effective as a therapy method, but I'm often DMing at least one campaign. I like to play video games and spend time with my partner and my cats. We're currently trying (and failing) to leash train one of them so we can take him camping. I am religious, but believe that all religions and identities should be valued and celebrated. I've worked with clients from various religious backgrounds, whether we're talking about how to navigate religious involvement and personal identity or working through religious trauma. Don't worry, I won't even offer religious discussion unless you ask for it.
