About My Clients
I work with individuals struggling with issues such as anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, trauma, eating disorders, identity development, and family conflict. I believe that through the process of building self-awareness, leaning into your inherent strengths, and developing new skills, you can manifest the desires you have for yourself and your life.
My Background and Approach
I received a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Lewis & Clark College in Portland, OR, attended Smith School for Social Work, and received a Master of Social Work degree from Arizona State University. I have training in ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy), and psychodynamic therapy. I have experience at the outpatient, intensive outpatient, and residential levels of care. I am a fluent Spanish and English speaker and practice in both languages. Prior to my career as a therapist, I worked for 5+ years in the world of immigrant justice.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
It takes courage to seek support and I celebrate the space you are making for growth and healing in your life. As your therapist, my commitment is to meet you where you are at with compassion, hope, and authenticity--validating and challenging you where appropriate. I believe mental health struggles are shaped by unique combinations of systemic oppression, lived and intergenerational traumas, family systems, relationships, and learned behaviors we've relied on to cope and survive. I believe in the power of connection and self-compassion as paths towards uprooting learned and internalized shame. I conceptualize healing and growth as a return to our own selves, and the resilience we already possess.
