About My Clients
You are a hardworking person who has experienced an upset that is affecting you still. A traumatic loss, a car accident, a complicated relationship, a life transition, or any life event. You may have tried therapy before, and you feel like you learned a lot (or didn’t) about your issues. You are ready to try something a bit different from standard talk therapy and get relief and resolution. You don’t need someone to tell you that you have PTSD or anxiety— you are ready to worry too relieve it.
My Background and Approach
I am Certified as a Traumatic Incident Reduction Facilitator. I am also trained in Life Stress Reduction (LSR). There’s approaches are structured yet highly person-centered. At any time during our work, I am focused on what is going on with YOU. You know your reality and your situation better than I do, but sometimes you need a space to look at the stresses you are handling.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe we are in a constant dance between who we are internally and the communities we live in- friends, family, work, school. Sometimes these things feel out of step, and we need support as we work to be ourselves and still connect to others in an affirming way. There is no size fits all approach to this. In the words of Salvator Minuchin, “I am highly skeptical of certainties”. So I am not by nature a directive person, either personally, spirituality, or politically. I’m not going to tell others what to do. I step in if it’s a matter of yours or someone else’s safety, or letting you know resources you may need, but generally, I prefer to make space for others to make their decisions, given the information they have at any given time. I tend to move toward others who may have more than one cultural, religious, or personal identity. Or, toward people who are actively curious about themselves and the world around them and don’t necessarily take things at face-value.
