About My Clients
I have experience working with clients with a wide variety of issues, I focus on general mental health such as depression and anxiety. I also work with individuals who have experienced trauma. Most of my experience is serving clients 18 years and older.
My Background and Approach
My approach to counseling is that it is crucial to build trust with my clients to aid them in achieving their specific goals. As such, I work closely with clients to build a strong understanding of their needs, culture, and story. I strive to empower my clients by providing a safe, supportive atmosphere to assist them in achieving their desired change. I utilize person-centered therapy and respect clients' right to self-determination. I believe that there is no day like the present. I use several different modalities to adjust to client’s needs including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Strengths-Based approach, and Mindfulness. I am a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) through the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health. I received my Master of Social Work degree from Capella University. I also has a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Concord University.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that mental health is just important as physical health and that everyone is on a different journey. If you are a client of mine you will often hear me say that "you know what's best for you" or ask you what are you ready to change currently. I am here to help you sort through difficult feelings and bring insight into challenging situations you may face. Change can be challenging but by taking things one step at a time, it can be helpful as often times the overarching goal can be very overwhelming. I have found that it's important for me to have a wide knowledge base on different communities. I have worked in hospitals and community settings. If you want to learn more about how I can help, feel free to send me a message.
