About My Clients

My clients are adults carrying the weight of loss — whether that's the death of a loved one, a terminal diagnosis, suicide bereavement, pregnancy loss, caregiver burnout, or a significant life transition. Many feel stuck, exhausted, or that no one truly understands their pain. Some have been grieving for years and wonder if they will ever feel like themselves again. You don't have to have it figured out to reach out. You just have to be ready to take one small step.

My Background and Approach

My path to grief therapy was shaped by personal experience. After a career in law, I journeyed alongside a close friend who died from pancreatic cancer. That loss led me to pursue graduate degrees in social work and pastoral care, and ultimately to a calling in hospice and palliative care. For more than five years I worked as a social worker and spiritual care provider, sitting with patients and families navigating terminal illness, sudden loss, traumatic death, and suicide bereavement. I led the grief department for a prominent local hospice and served as palliative coordinator for Boulder Community Health. That work taught me that grief therapy is not about helping someone "get over" loss — it is about helping someone live the fullest, most meaningful life available to them. Today I blend evidence-based grief therapy with DBT, IFS, and ACT to help clients manage overwhelming emotions, build self-compassion, and integrate loss into a life that feels worth living again.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe grief is not a pathology to be treated — it is a natural, healthy response to love. As I often share, "a heart that knows grief is a heart that knows love." I believe everyone grieves differently and on their own timeline. There is no right way to mourn and no expiration date on loss. My role is not to move you through grief on someone else's schedule but to walk alongside you on your own unique journey. I believe the therapeutic relationship is the foundation of therapy. Before any technique or intervention, you need to feel genuinely heard, seen, and safe. Creating that space is my first and most important task. I believe grief can be a catalyst for profound growth and meaning. Not because loss is a gift — it isn't — but because the process of integrating loss can clarify what matters most and reconnect us to our deepest values. Finally, I hold space for the spiritual and existential dimensions of grief.
