About My Clients
My focus is to help individuals survive and thrive after crisis, trauma or in times of stress. In addition to trauma counseling, I also specialize in treating anxiety and depression, which often goes hand-in-hand with the stress of life. I am culturally competent in the LGBTQIA+ and first responder communities. My promise is to help you build on your strengths and create resiliency using creative, evidence-based approaches. My goal is to help you grow, heal and achieve your full potential.
My Background and Approach
I believe in a collaborative approach to treatment since you are the expert in your life. My goal is to provide you with the guidance, support and tools you need to make the changes that you desire in your life become a reality. I accomplish this by using a variety of evidence-based therapeutic techniques and a sometimes even a touch of humor.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Since 2005, I have worked in public safety, and crisis management & intervention. During that time I filled a variety from roles from civilian staff, therapist, & crisis intervention instructor, to sworn law enforcement officer & supervisor. During my time in public service, I noticed a lack of mental health services within the communities I served, specifically within the LGBTQIA+ and first responder communities. As a member of both communities I felt there was a lack of culturally competent counselors available to assist us. In an effort to bridge this gap I went back to school and obtained my Master’s in Counseling and then my Doctorate in Psychology. I am a two-time international honors society member and a nationally certified counselor. Additionally I am a certified clinical trauma professional and have personal and professional experience in mindfulness based interventions.
