About My Clients
Dominique is a New York State Licensed Social Worker and certified Grief Informed Professional who has experience supporting individuals across their lifespan. Dominique also has a particular interest in supporting medical professionals and helping professionals. Dominique is trained in Level 1 & Level 2 in the Gottman Method and has attended intensive trainings in perinatal mental health.
My Background and Approach
Dominique has been working as a Social Worker since 2015 and graduated from Boston University, School of Social Work with her MSW in January 2021. Dominique is a New York State Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) and a LICSW in Vermont. Dominique works for both Compass Wellness out of Poughkeepsie, NY and is the owner of Before the Sun Sets, LLC which provides psychotherapy, educational workshops and case management services in VT. Dominique has experience in supporting individuals across their lifespan. Dominique has experience working working with children, college students and as a hospital social worker. As a hospital social worker, Dominique has supported many areas like, the Emergency Department, Oncology, Cardiology, General Surgery, the Birthing Center. Dominique also spent time working as a Discharge Planner and has experience supporting the hosptial Chaplain. In addition, Dominique has experience working as a Hospice Social Worker.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
When supporting clients, Dominique aims to meet her clients where they are at in their journey and then help them create a plan to regain clarity and understanding about what is going on and ways to help them get to the other side. Dominique truly believes that her clients have an innate power to heal, if given the chance to be supported, validated, seen and heard. Dominique feels it is a great honor to be a part of her clients journeys and to build a therapeutic relationship built on the a foundation of trust and openess. Dominique is often described as being warm, down to earth, empathetic and flexible and is known to use humor, as appropriate, in therapy.
