Since starting my career as a therapist in 2017, I have worked with people from all walks of life. Using an eclectic style of therapy, I pull from different approaches to meet the needs and goals of each person. Several therapies I gravitate toward, including; Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Narrative Therapy, Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), Humanistic Therapy, and Existential Therapy; focus on open-ended discussions and encourage abstract thinking to shift perspectives or re-conceptualize difficult past events. In other instances, I may use a more structured approach using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) or Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) to organize and track thoughts, feelings, and behaviors so we can better understand their interconnectedness to alleviate negative thoughts and emotions while increasing healthy behaviors. Underlying any approach is a culturally competent foundation of empathetic support.
