About My Clients
I have been in practice since 2016 and generally work 1:1 with adults or adolescents. My primary specialty is in the area of Health Psychology, which broadly involves the interaction of our physical health and emotional health. Commonly, this can mean experiencing issues such as stress, depression, anxiety, chronic pain, substance abuse, trauma, or other difficulties with managing chronic medical conditions.
My Background and Approach
We often think of physical health and emotional health as two separate things, but the truth is that they are inexorably linked; when you feel bad in one you usually feel bad in the other. The good news is that it works the other way too -- caring for one's mental health has a multitude of positive impacts for our physical health as well. I have a great deal of experience with many therapeutic strategies that can aid in this regard, including behavioral techniques, cognitive-behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and mindfulness/meditation skills. Nobody is born knowing how to deal with issues like stress, trauma, anxiety, or depression, and often the last people we consider deserving of care are ourselves. Self-care is a skill, and like any skill it gets easier with practice and support.
