About My Clients
I work with people dealing with anxiety, depression, and trauma, people working to overcome social anxiety, and people exploring multi-cultural identities. Through a warm connection, I help you explore your life, heal from previous trauma, and improve your self-love. I am also particularly interested in working with people who have newly immigrated or grew up in a bi-cultural household.
My Background and Approach
My approach to therapy is based in motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy, strengths-based therapy, and trauma-informed therapy which helps you understand how past traumas or events affect you in the present time while also acknowledging the expertise you bring to our working relationship. We will work on identifying emotional/thought patterns to grow your self awareness, and work on different activities that will help you change your environment, self-perception, and regain your locus of control. I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW). I obtained my BSW from the Catholic University of America in Washington D.C. and my MSW from the University of Maryland Baltimore in Baltimore, MD. I am a bi-lingual therapist that provides therapy in English and Spanish.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I have worked with newly immigrated and people of color demonstrating the benefits of mental health services through education. I believe our minds and bodies are closely linked, and we all have mental health just like we have physical health. I have worked to open dialogue around negative beliefs about mental health so we can start breaking down barriers and ensure people of color have equitable access to mental health services. I center my practice around culture identity being a strong component about how we frame our world perception and honor that in our therapy sessions.
