About My Clients
I am passionate about working with adults who are experiencing life transitions, balancing family, school, and/or work responsibilities as well as those experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, or grief. I am also passionate about working with individuals that come from family traditions that may have caused them to shy away from therapy.
My Background and Approach
For more than 18 years, I worked in the field of health education where I mentored and guided individuals and communities to improve physical and mental health outcomes. I have more than 20 years of experience mentoring, advising, and teaching adults of all ages in a university setting. I am committed to helping you identify and reach your mental health and other personal goals. My approach is anti-oppressive, collaborative, and welcoming. I use several therapeutic approaches, including, person-centered therapy, solution-focused therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and strengths perspective to support and empower you. It is my goal to provide a nonjudgmental therapeutic experience for all clients. I aim to help you manage your life in a manner that brings you peace and allows you space to dream, thrive, and grow.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Social justice and anti-oppressive practices are at the core of my work as a practitioner and educator. I work hard to demystify processes, provide opportunities, and to dismantle structural and systemic barriers. I feel called to pave the way for others just as my ancestors paved the way for me. I practice cultural humility and intentionally foster relationships with individuals that come from other lands, customs, cultures, and traditions. I believe that building multicultural/multiethnic relationships is the cornerstone to better understanding and healing between groups in this beautifully diverse country.
