About My Clients
Maybe anxiety has gotten louder, OCD is running the show, or you haven't slept well in weeks or even years. You want to understand what's happening and do more than talk about it — you want to change it. My clients are motivated people who've tried approaches that felt vague or didn't stick, and they're relieved to find someone trained in evidence-based practice who is also down-to-earth and easy to talk to.
My Background and Approach
Alongside my work as a therapist, I have more than 25 years of experience teaching outdoor sports and movement-based practices in rural mountain communities. That background shapes how I work. I think about the whole person, I understand what it means to live an active life in a small town, and I don't take a one-size-fits-all approach. I have advanced training in evidence-based treatment for anxiety, OCD, and insomnia — Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for trauma. For clients dealing with broader life concerns, I draw on ACT and psychodynamic approaches to make sense of longstanding patterns and work toward real change in the here and now. My clients get a therapist who is genuinely curious about what's driving their symptoms, trained in methods with strong research support, and focused on helping them reach their goals and get on with their lives.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I live and work in the Teton Valley, where I spend most of my free time outside — skiing, hiking, mountain biking, and chasing my two dogs on the trails with my family. The rural mountain west isn't just where I live; it's shaped how I think about health, resilience, and what it means to ask for help in a place where self-reliance runs deep. I believe therapy should be accessible, honest, and straightforward. I'm committed to providing quality care for all clients regardless of identity, background, or belief system. I'm genuine and warm, but not afraid to challenge my clients in ways that elicit real change. I care about expanding access to evidence-based mental health care in underserved rural communities.
