About My Clients
Are you experiencing anxiety, out-of-the-blue sadness, or irritability? Thinking big and taking on complex projects is the lifeblood and identity for many creative people. While others might look on from the outside and comment on how exciting it looks, these endeavors often lend themselves to problems like imposter syndrome, fear of failure, and existential questions. Ambitions are great, but don't let them take over your life. Peace and fulfillment can coexist for you.
My Background and Approach
My education and professional discipline are concentrated on understanding human behavior and how we come to be who we are. Our experiences feed and deplete our soul, then inform how we respond to ourselves and others. Those events get seared into our brain and set the stage for what we do next. All of our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are connected. I practice in a way that explores the entirety of your lived experience. These unpleasant thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are your body’s way of communicating something isn’t working. I use culturally sensitive talk therapy. I am certified in cognitive behavioral therapy and interpersonal therapy, with years of experience in other modalities. My practice is also informed by my love of art and stories. I see each person as the protagonist of their story. Together, we will take deep dives to better understand the nuance of your journey. You can change the narrative and see what follows.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
People are impacted by their social environments. When somebody is ensnared in a toxic relationship, family dynamic, friend group, or workplace, that dysfunction will affect the way they see themselves. The same applies to broader society, too. Think about what we as Americans have survived over recent years. Political turmoil, the pandemic, racial injustice, and broken policy systems all trickle down and affect people's individual lives. Sometimes we can fix the problem. Sometimes-- especially for the broader, societal issues-- we can't. In our therapy, we will explore how your social environment is affecting your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. This is a safe place. How do these problems frame how you value yourself? How has it changed the way you interact with the world around you? I will help you realize your own power and thrive in your relationships and the broader world.
