About My Clients
So many people are taught from an early to stuff our feelings, and in adulthood are expected to know how to self-regulate. Many of my clients come to my practice with the awareness that something needs to change in their lives. I offer a safe space for adults, couples, and families to learn to identify and process emotions, modulate mood, and increase coping skills. This helps with identity, career, family, and relational growth.
My Background and Approach
I work with adults, couples, and families who struggle with anxiety, depression, anger issues and identity exploration. I have extensive experience with cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) and have been a professional counselor for over 10 years. Additionally, I have been trained in the Gottman Approach and trauma-focused CBT. Both are evidence based practices which focus on the importance of self-regulating one’s self and using healthy copings skills to increase interpersonal relationships and increase self worth. I obtained a specialized degree in counseling/art therapy with a focus on trauma-informed care. I have worked in a variety of settings including most recently the USMC and Navy. In these realms, I have worked with individuals and groups to learn to be the best versions of themselves. My approach is judgement-free, empathetic, and efficient.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that everyone, regardless of their past has the ability to move past unhealthy and destructive behaviors. I feel strongly that we all deserve the right to grow and change. While I am an artist and a free-thinker, my professional work has connected me with many people who identify as men in the military. I am a parent and support men and families to choose non-violent ways of reparenting themselves to become better parents. Additionally, I have a special interest in challenging ableism and embracing the gifts of neuro-diversity.
