Trauma. By Google's definition it means a deeply distressing and disturbing experience. But what is your definition of the trauma you've been through? I want to be able to hold that space for you as you unravel and untangle the events and experiences you define as your trauma. Sometimes we don't even realize what we went through was traumatic. Sometimes we think what happened was normal. I want to push against that trauma together and rebuild a life where you get to be your you-est you.
My Background and Approach
Imagine as if you are looking down at a desolate and barren dirt field. And it seems far too overwhelming to cultivate this field into something where plants can grow and animals can inhabit. I’m there with you and together we work the soil. It’s messy, we get dirt on our faces, we laugh, we water the field, we nurture the soil. The work is cut out for us, but we continue on, slowly finding and grabbing the tools we need to make this field beautiful again. This is my approach to therapy. I know it sounds super cheesy, but I want to be right there with you when the going gets tough, when the hard work seems endless, and when looking at the past seems impossible. My practice is grounded in TF-CBT (Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), and humanistic origins. Through these modalities, together we’ll find ways to overcome pain, despair, and hardships. Let’s take the next step together.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Creating a space where you or your teen feel safe enough to be your authentic self, empowered enough to find your own voice, and confident enough to share your story is important to me. It takes bravery to face the deep and dark parts of the past and courage to be on this platform looking for a therapist. Huge kudos to you for being here and reading this. Having been through my own therapy for childhood trauma, it can be extremely nerve-wracking to pull the trigger and choose to go to therapy. But I am so glad you’re here and I hope to have the opportunity to connect with you.
