About My Clients
Does low self-esteem get in the way of living more authentically? Have you been harmed by religion, but want to connect more spiritually? Are you sober curious? Do you feel trapped in a pattern of choices that, while you recognize aren’t supportive, you continue making despite the negative consequences? I can relate. I’ve been there. It's not uncommon for gay men to experience the effects of heteronormativity. Which is why an affirming therapist can help foster resilience in a unique way.
My Background and Approach
I'm a humanistic and client-centered LGBTQ-affirming therapist. I look at each of my clients through an affirmative and humanistic lens. Meaning that I see the problem as the problem and not the person. I view therapy as a collaborative relationship where we'll work together to identify goals and patterns of behavior. You're the driver and I'm in the passenger seat supporting you along the way. I also specialize in working with people who specifically want spirituality to be a resource in their therapy. I use a combination of both Western and Eastern philosophies in my therapeutic approach, including Mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Depth Psychology, Energy Psychology, and Humanistic Psychology. We don’t need to experience challenges to arrive at our purpose. When we can find purpose in our challenges, though, we experience transformation. If you're ready to gain a greater sense of purpose, self-acceptance, and belonging, reach out today.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
What got me to where I am today is my own journey of healing and personal recovery. For more than a decade, I've worked to transform my past pain and heal from conscious and unconscious limiting beliefs. Beliefs that tried to convince me that I wasn't good enough. After nearly 15 years of anesthetizing my pain with drugs and alcohol and eight years of sobriety, what I share with others from my experience is that what people do at bars and what they do at church are ultimately the same: the pursuit of a connection with something beyond the realm of this world. It’s just that one source is sustainable, and one isn’t. What I've come to learn from my own path is that connecting with our spirituality--or the direct experience of our own essence--loving ourselves, and taking full responsibility for our lives and choices is where our strength lies at the deepest level. I firmly believe each of us has the ability to self-actualize and it's through our self-actualization process, we heal.
