About My Clients
My clients tend to be highly motivated for change and willing to practice self compassion, inward trust, and distress toleration. They tend to seek mind, body, and heart integration and are courageous in their authenticity. Some are suffering from compassion fatigue or the affects of toxic religion, and together we work towards cultivating resiliency, hope, acceptance, empowerment and evolution.
My Background and Approach
I enjoy working with individuals, couples, families, refugees, LGBTQ, military personnel, and spiritual seekers (including those disillusioned or hurt by organized religion). When working together, you will notice an emphasis on self-compassion, wholeness, and mindfulness. I also offer EMDR therapy, which I have found greatly enhances the healing process and often gets the the deeper core issues that produce anxiety and depressive symptoms.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I grew up in a toxic faith environment and suffered the affects of self doubt, fear and internalized shame due to unchecked power and constricting beliefs upheld by the leaders. Through undergoing my own therapy, I have been able to grapple with the affects of being formed in an unhealthy system, and have tapped into my own voice and liberation. I now find myself on the path to be a Priest in the Episcopal Church, partly because I want others that have been trapped in constricting environments-- be it faith, societal, racial, family, or work--to be able to experience this type of empowerment, liberation, and self compassion in their own lives that I have found through therapy and spiritual direction. I believe so firmly in equity and liberation work that my feet have marched in many marches, and I have participated in community action events. As a side note, I think that if more people joined a Muay Thai Kickboxing Group less money would need to be spent on therapy.
