About My Clients
I support and empower clients seeking relief and resolution to anxiety, Depression, grief, prior trauma, troubled relationships, self-esteem issues, Codependence, life transitions, and mood disorders. I work with teens, young adults, working professionals, women, and mothers. I am EMDR trained and offer a trauma-informed, integrated, strengths-based approach to increase your resilience, effective coping, and reduce feelings of distress, helplessness, and hopelessness. Only daytime appts.
My Background and Approach
As a former teacher, pregnancy center volunteer, and school counselor, I relate to the human need for acceptance and hope. I see that each person has a unique story and personal talents, creativity, and resilience but that something has gotten off-track. I believe that each of us has an important path and purpose and am dedicated to providing an accepting therapeutic relationship that fosters each client's growth. I offer empathy and practical tools to enhance your self-awareness, self-acceptance, coping, interpersonal skills, and positive direction. I integrate Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-focused techniques, Motivational Interviewing and the experiential approaches of Sandtray and expressive arts. I also offer coaching to help parents improve family communication, strengthen positive connections, and enhance cooperation.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
We have a beautiful world and are created for connection; however, negative life experiences often distort one's sense of value and safety in the world and lead to self-limiting beliefs and actions. As a former teacher, pregnancy center volunteer, and school counselor, I have witnessed a wide spectrum of human experiences, from great joy for fortunate individuals able to realize their intrinsic value and gifts to profound discouragement for others facing constant setbacks, losses, or abuse. I became a counselor with the mission of educating, empowering, and supporting discouraged clients who have lost their way, or their confidence, by helping them gain understanding and new skills, release old pain, and find the courage to walk towards personal wholeness, healthier relationships, and renewed purpose.
