About My Clients
Are you working with a little anxiety (or really maybe alot actually) or depression? What about a mood disorder, or substance use? Or have encountered trauma? Are you a new parent and are looking to feel empowered from some postpartum anxiety or depression? I just so happen to be a therapist who can provide comfort and healing from these struggles. I will work with you to reconnect mind and body.
My Background and Approach
I received my Master's of Social Work from MSU (GO GREEN) and have been hitting the ground running ever since! I come from a heavy background of working within many areas of the mental health community. I am certified in EMDR (holy tons of training!), which is an amazing therapy technique designed to help survivors of trauma and abuse that I could scream from the rooftops about on a daily basis about it's magnificent healing capacities. Not only is EMDR one of the most recommended trauma treatments, but it is also highly useful for anyone struggling with postpartum concerns! This treatment is also highly beneficial for the following difficulties which I also can treat. I also use many other approaches with clients – and specifically tailor my work to each individual and will incorporate things like DBT, CBT, and a whole lot of mindfulness.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As a social worker I value being a part of my community in a positive way. That means getting involved in things that I am passionate about and stepping out of my therapy role and advocating for important societal issues when they arise (um hi, they show up in the therapy room), even if it means putting myself out there. Political activism isn't just a part of who I am, but a strong value in my ethics as a social worker and who I am as a human being, and continuing to learn where and when my place to stand up (or sit down) is.
