About My Clients

You might be in the middle of a shift in who you are. Stepping into parenthood, moving through loss, or feeling like the version of yourself you once knew no longer quite fits. You might be carrying grief without a clear name, or anxiety that shows up in your body before it reaches your thoughts. You get to decide when the time is right to begin. I work with individuals, couples, and teens across California, virtually and in person in Santa Barbara. I'm ready when you are.

My Background and Approach

I'm Allie Michie (she/her), an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT #159347), supervised by Claire Blakey, MA, LMFT119518, PMH-C. I earned my M.S. in Counseling Psychology from California Lutheran University, with a focus on Family Systems and Attachment. I believe real healing happens through genuine connection. In our work together, we'll slow things down, noticing patterns, making space for what you're carrying, and building a path forward that feels grounded and authentically yours. My approach draws from Attachment Theory and integrates Emotionally Focused Therapy, Person-Centered, Family Systems, and Cognitive approaches, informed by somatic and mindfulness-based practices. Whatever you bring, I meet it with warmth, curiosity, and deep respect. I'm proudly rooted in Ventura, CA and offer virtual therapy throughout California. I also offer in-person sessions in Santa Barbara at The Center for Psychotherapy and Integrative Health.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe therapy works best when it feels like a genuine relationship, one built on honesty, warmth, and mutual respect. I show up as a real person in the room, not just a clinician. I am deeply committed to creating a space that is inclusive, affirming, and grounded in care, respect, and equality for all people, regardless of identity, background, relationship structure, or walk of life. I support the wellbeing of the communities and world around me and try to live those values both in and outside the therapy room. I know firsthand how transformative it can be to do the work, to actively choose growth, connection, and honesty when life has handed you something harder. That lived experience shapes how I show up for my clients every day. Outside of work you can find me cooking, traveling, hiking, or being completely charmed by my two dogs, Penny (a spirited Cattle Dog mix) and Maizey (a miniature long-haired Dachshund who takes her naps very seriously).
