Together we will begin to confront unhealthy cognitive (thought) patterns that stop you from moving forward in your life. We will process, recognize and adapt negative cognitions and work to increase more positive and healthy thought systems about yourself. It is a corner stone of treatment to change the way we speak to ourselves and begin to increase healthy self talk.
As a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional I understand how challenging and intricate treating trauma can be. I use a variety of tools to help process, re-process and speak about trauma (both chronic/long-term and acute/recent). So often with trauma we no longer feel safe and I have found that is extremely important to address areas of safety early on in therapy. We work to process the trauma at hand and recognize healthy and safe ways to cope and work through the different emotions and pain.
I have been using EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) to treat areas of trauma, anxiety, panic, specific phobias and addiction since originally being trained. EMDR is highly effective for making long term progress and change in treating areas of concern that have previously been challenging to work through with typical talk-based treatment. EMDR provides a healthy cognitive change while addressing underlying emotional/behavioral triggers.

Many survivors find that, as time goes on, the impacts of specific traumatic events begin to affect them differently. As challenging as it may feel to share your story, it is so important to find a safe place to process and cope with trauma and abuse you have survived. I am able to provide a safe place for all survivors to process, share and navigate their story. Together we will work on rebuilding your sense of self and increasing your quality of life.
Maybe a relationship or marriage has just ended, or the transition out of college and into the workforce isn’t going as smoothly as you’d hoped. Perhaps parenthood doesn’t feel the way you thought it would. Or maybe you just feel a sense of unease about where you’re at in life, but can’t put a finger on why. No one likes change, but when life throws us big curve balls, it can be completely disorienting. Anxiety therapy can help you create a new future.
I have been supporting the survivors of violent acts since I was an undergrad in college. Since 2007 I have been an advocate for those who most often feel voiceless. It is so important to provide a safe place for survivors to share their story, find safety and work to rebuild their life. I use a variety of tools to help you combat trauma and increase safety.
I have spent year working within in-patient and outpatient drug treatment settings. I understand that substance abuse and various addictions are often rooted in unresolved emotions, stress, anxiety and trauma. I have found by working on underlying emotional needs we can work to resolve substance abuse triggers and work toward more long-term sobriety.
