Alex Gerrish (they/them)

I am a white, queer, trans/non-binary therapist who takes a collaborative, trauma-informed and non-pathologizing approach to therapy. I provide affirmative therapy for LGBTQIA+ folks who are looking to explore their identities, thoughts, and feelings in a supportive, non-judgmental space. I believe it is important to feel seen and understood by your therapist in order to feel safe to explore difficult/traumatic experiences and share my personality throughout my work.. I view clients as the experts in their lives and meet them where they are at with curiosity and compassion. I approach therapy through an anti-oppression and liberation lens. I have completed several trainings focused on queer/trans affirming therapy, gender affirming care letter writing, mindfulness, IFS, ACT, and will be completing psychedelic assisted treatment training in 2023.

I believe all humans have the capacity to unlearn behaviors that they have developed over time to maintain emotional safety that no longer serve them. I believe LGBTQIA+ people deserve to thrive and live their lives fully and without shame. I believe many of our systems in place uphold racism, homophobia, and transphobia and work to explore and acknowledge the privileged identities I hold.
