About My Clients
My primary focus is with teens and their families helping them navigate post-quarantine life. Many of the struggles I help with are with school refusal, social media and video game addiction, along with depression, anxiety and panic. I take a family systems approach and work with teens on rebuilding their connection to their families and their peers. When working with adults I find my best work to be with people who are looking to rediscover themselves through inner work and creativity.
My Background and Approach
My approach is informed by my background in cultural anthropology, critical theory and depth psychology. I use a liberatory framework and draw from psychodynamic theories, mindfulness and expressive arts for interventions. With teens my work focuses on rebuilding their connections to their families, peer groups and their ancestry while helping them to find a healthy balance between physical and digital relationships. With adults my work includes exploring socio-cultural factors that led to unhealthy expectations and motivations, as well as understanding how early childhood experiences are impacting their ability to adapt and change in adulthood. Some interventions I utilize are dream work, active imagination, genograms and promote the use of the imagination and images as a way to dialogue and access deeper parts of the unconscious.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
At my core I am a radical mental health practitioner. What I mean by that is I believe most modern psychological theory is not working to promote internal wellness, but rather to promote the production of capital. I do not believe my work as a therapist is to help people function healthily in an unhealthy world. I believe my work is to help you revision what a healthy life could be if we step outside of what society's demands are.
