About My Clients
I typically work with adults with chronic illnesses such as autoimmune disorders, cancer, diabetes, and kidney disease. I have worked in various clinical health settings, including primary care, solid organ transplant, bone marrow transplant, pain, oncology, and bariatric surgery clinics. I have specialized experience working with cancer patients and their family members (or caregivers) across the cancer care continuum (e.g., diagnosis, treatment, survivorship, and end-of-life).
My Background and Approach
As a clinical health psychologist, I’ve witnessed the impact of stress, anxiety, and feelings of hopelessness as individuals manage their chronic health conditions. These are common reactions to navigating a life-altering health condition. I take a collaborative approach to therapy with my clients, and I strive to establish a supportive environment where we can discuss your goals for therapy and address the challenges associated with managing chronic illness. I focus on connecting with my clients by understanding the different psychological, behavioral, emotional, and social problems that may arise from managing chronic illnesses. My therapeutic practice is influenced by Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) while integrating components of Cognitive Behavioral Stress Management (CBSM) and Meaning-Centered Psychotherapy (MCP). Integrating these different therapeutic components provides my clients with specific skills to overcome and cope with challenges related to their health.
