If any of this sounds familiar, you’re not alone. I have experience working with women just like you. However, your unique lived experiences mean that therapy will look a little different for you than someone else. I will work to support you in your own personal goals no matter how big or small they may seem. You will learn new tools and skills to help you live a thriving and fulfilling life and find peace between you and your body. This may look like learning new coping skills to help you find new ways of adapting to stressful situations. It may also look like identifying and naming emotions that are really hard to understand or even tolerate. We will look at how your early stories from childhood and adolescents have impacted who you are today. No, it won't be a 'tell me about your childhood' shrink-y kind of moment, but rather it will be about curiosity into how you were shaped and formed.
The therapeutic relationship is key in facilitating change. In our work together, you will find a safe and non-judgemental space where you can bring all the many parts of who you are. You are the expert in your own story and my role as the therapist is to bear witness to your lived experiences. You have been profoundly shaped by the way society and family structures have formed you into well...being you. Sometimes, society adds additional pressures particularly to female-identifying bodies that lead to harmful behaviors. I believe in body-positivity and that every body is a good body. I adhere to the Health at Every Size approach when it comes to thinking about body diversity and work to reduce fat phobic, violent and harmful stereotypes to those who might live in larger bodies. Finding the right therapist who is the right fit is really hard. I invite you to schedule a free 15 minute consultation to learn more about me and what our work together might look like.
