About My Clients
Being a survivor of sexual assault and abuse can feel extremely isolating, silencing, and traumatizing. It can lead to significant emotional distress that seeps into your every day life, often making it difficult to focus on your responsibilities, relationships, and other things that are important to you. In my clinic, you have options. We can work on your therapy goals through one-on-one individual sessions, or you can choose to join the Sexual Trauma Empowerment Group that I facilitate.
My Background and Approach
I earned my Bachelors degree in Psychology from the Lebanese American University in Beirut, Lebanon. I later moved to the United States, and earned my Masters and Ed.S. degrees in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from James Madison University. I have been immersed in the mental health field since early adulthood, during which I have gained experience in working with various populations, including college students, immigrants, forensically-involved individuals, survivors of trauma and abuse, as well as people with Serious and Persistent Mental Illness. I utilize an Integrative Approach to psychotherapy, in which I derive techniques from various schools of thought, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, instead of using a one-size-fits-all method. I specialize in the clinical areas of Trauma and Abuse, Mood Disorders (Depression and Bipolar), and Anxiety Disorders.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am passionate about providing a space that will feel supportive, empowering, and welcoming to people from all walks of life. In my practice, you will never be judged. You will always have a seat at the table, and your voice will always be heard. I have worked very hard to get to where I am professionally, but I firmly believe that, in my office, you are the expert on your story. I will be there to support and guide you through your healing journey, at whatever pace feels right for you.
