About My Clients
I specialize in working with people who have experienced violence and harm from other people and from systems of oppression such as white supremacy, capitalism, colonialism, patriarchy, ableism, homophobia, transphobia, Zionism, antisemitism, and more. People I work with may have some of these experiences: childhood abuse and neglect; violence and harm in relationships; trauma, acute and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD); complex trauma, complex posttraumatic stress disorder (CPTSD).
My Background and Approach
In my practice I knit together psychodynamic and somatic therapies, with a deep grounding in social justice. As a psychodynamic therapist, I support you to know yourself, your story, and the future you long for. We will gently, curiously untangle the habits and ideas that helped you before but that may no longer be working. As a somatic practitioner, I know experiences live on in our bodies. I will support you to connect with the ways your body remembers your story, with the knowledge it offers, and with the pleasures and joy it can hold. From my foundation in social justice, I see mental health as interwoven with experiences of violence from other people and within oppressive systems. We will pay attention to naming and grieving the harms and traumas that you, your communities, and your ancestors have been through, and imagine ways to realize a more just world.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe in and am working towards a world without police, prisons, or borders, with reparations for Black and Native people, in which resources are redistributed so that everyone has what we need to survive and thrive.
