My Background and Approach
As an art therapist, I integrate the use of creative expression within the heaing process. The addition of art-making can provide an alternative way to communicate, gain insight, and relax. Whether talking or creating, I work from a trauma-informed perspective while integrating experiential, relational, and somatic approaches. What does that all mean? It means that therapy is a collaborative experience in which the connection and relationship between client and therapist is of utmost importance. It means that the body and brain are connected and awareness of this connection is essential for healing. It means that giving space for the development of the creative self provides access to new ways of thinking and approaching stressors.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that everyone has the ability to heal and grow given the proper support and a safe environment. We are all on a journey to discover our true selves and cultivate a fulfilling life. True connection nourishes this journey -- connection to others, to self, to body, to environment.
