About My Clients

I work with people who have experienced anxiety, fear, loss, grief, illness, traumatic stress, traumatic loss, medical trauma, disasters, and pain. Most of my clients are struggling with fear, anxiety, or feeling overwhelmed and amped up OR shut down and frozen in response to difficult events that they have been through. I have worked with people with illnesses that include cancer, fatigue, autoimmune disorders, thyroid, heart attack, allergies, asthma, Parkinson's disease, and organ transplants

My Background and Approach

I offer somatic therapy, mindfulness therapy, ACT, CBT, narrative therapy, and therapeutic writing. I will teach you how to rewire your brain and nervous system for a greater sense of peace, happiness, and resilience. I'll teach you how to better manage difficult thoughts, feelings, and sensations so that you can spend more time being in the present and less time ruminating about the past or worrying about the future. I have spent my career understanding mind body healing from the effects of loss, fear, anxiety, illness, stress, pain, and trauma. When you work with me, there's no going over and over the past. We will focus on supporting you in learning skills to help you feel better in the present and to begin to create a more hopeful future based on what matters most to you. I am a licensed clinical mental health counselor and board certified coach. I have been offering counseling services and teaching mindfulness for 30+ years.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe that change is possible. We're all human, we're all struggling with something. We each have the capacity to change when offered compassionate support and guidance and when we're taught effective skills for managing difficult thoughts and feelings. Trying to run away from what feels difficult doesn't work, and it often makes things feel worse. I've found that learning how to meet the difficult events in our lives with kindness and compassion while simultaneously learning how to cultivate glimmers of peace and joy again is the key to healing and returning to a state of balance and wholeness. In my free time, I enjoy photography, walking in nature, bird watching, and cultivating native plant gardens.
