About My Clients
Corey’s experience is centered around multicultural issues including racial trauma and generational trauma. She is passionate about working with young adults who are learning to navigate in their own diversity as well as anyone who is experiencing issues around identity including self-esteem, confidence, and self-compassion. Corey additionally has experience in working with individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, and life transitions.
My Background and Approach
She aims to make the therapeutic space one where each individual feels welcome and accepted in order to process trauma and gain further insight into their power to promote healing. She believes everyone is unique thus utilizes an eclectic approach fueled by empathy, trust, collaboration, and acceptance. She incorporates a number of therapeutic techniques into session including somatic therapy, inner child work, mindfulness, music, and exploring the mind body connection. As a mixed-race individual Corey has experienced the complex issues that can arise from being a member of the BIPOC community. Being mixed can bring about feelings of not truly belonging and navigating how to belong to multiple cultural groups. She experienced people trying to put her into a box and assign her with a designated label where each label comes with assumptions, stereotypes, and prejudice. It is easy to get lost in societal demands that lead to loss of personal identity.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Nobody can tell you how to identify or what parts of you to claim, only you know your story and only you have the power to tell it. Nobody knows what it is like to be in your body. Corey is here to help you tell your own unique story because how you choose to express your identity is up to you. She aims to help you discover your truth.
