About My Clients
Do you find yourself burdened by the weight of the things that have happened in your life? You might feel stuck or repeating ineffective patterns in your life. Perhaps you are tormented by sleepless nights, awful dreams, feeling on edge, an ever-present tension in your body, and waiting for the other shoe to drop. Many people who experience these symptoms blame themselves, when it is the body’s natural response to what it has experienced. Could you imagine finding some relief?
My Background and Approach
You are not made out of broken material, your body has been through something that didn’t make sense. Many people who feel this way benefit from Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). Our work starts with learning together how your brain, body, and nervous system are acting to protect you. You will learn skills to become the observer of your emotions instead of feeling controlled by them. This way you can participate in your life in a more present, grounded way.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As an Integrative Trauma Therapist, My role in our relationship is to show you safety, warmth, and honesty in our sessions. My approach with clients is eclectic but rooted in DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy), EMDR, Somatic Therapy, IFS (Internal Family Systems)/ parts work, attachment theory, mindfulness, and compassion. On a personal note, I am a cancer and gun violence survivor. These lived experiences have helped me understand the complexity and depth of emotions as well as the body's response to trauma.
