Yunyao (Christie) Wu (she/her)

With a B.S. in clinical psychology from Tufts University and an M.S. in counseling psychology from Northeastern University, I have experience working in diverse settings with multicultural populations, such as clinical research in addiction medicine among adults, clinical case management for chronically homeless elders, and outpatient counseling in an Asian-American non-profit agency. I have extensive experience working with clients (adults, couples, and families) struggling with mood/anxiety disorders, substance use disorders, acculturation difficulties, parenting, and issues of domestic violence. My clinical interests include learning about the interplay of cultural, historical, and generational factors that result in the stigmatization and underutilization of mental health care among Asian-American communities.

I am a firm believer that everyone has their own unique story, and that we are the experts in our own lives. Anxiety, depression, and maladaptive thinking processes are common manifestations and responses to past trauma. Therapy with me is a collaborative process where we explore the impact of this trauma and a range of other issues that may be impeding your ability to live your best life. My role in the therapeutic relationship is to provide a safe space for curiosity and exploration, and offer tools that highlight and build upon your innate strengths and resources, ultimately allowing you to take actions to better your life.
