About My Clients
I work with children who have a range of difficulties including ASD, anxiety, depression, mood disorders, learning disabilities, attachment disorders, and emotional, behavioral, and social challenges. In addition, I work with parents of special needs children, helping parents in how to parent their unique child, as well as individual therapeutic issues that may have arisen since becoming a parent. I also work with divorcing couples on how to co-parent their child.
My Background and Approach
I have been working with children and families for the past 10 years. My experience has been in therapeutic school settings, both in the classroom as a therapeutic teacher, and as an individual and group therapist for children, siblings, parents, couples, and whole families. My treatment philosophy is a combination of strength-based approaches, psychodynamic theory and play-based strategies, while utilizing elements from cognitive behavioral therapy techniques. I operate using a trauma lens and knowledge from attachment based therapy. I believe strongly that parents are the experts of their children, and that my job is to work in collaboration with parents/guardians, families, and children in order to instill change. I also work individually with parents. The goals can include parenting techniques for their child with differing needs, their own mental health since becoming a parent, and co-parenting strategies for couples whom need extra guidance and support.
